A SCOTS golf enthusiast is attempting to play ten rounds of golf in one day for a charity drive.
Scratch golfer Jamie Kennedy, 26, hopes to raise ?10,000 performing the feat within 24 hours on June 27.
The golf enthusiast will have to walk the equivalent of two marathons throughout the day and will have to climb about 5000 feet in total.
?Jamie will play ten rounds in 19 hours?
On the day, Jamie, the youngest son of former Scotland rugby player Euan Kennedy, will tee off at 4am at his home course in Edinburgh and will then play 180 holes around the par-72 course in Mortonhall.
By the time he takes his final putt, Jamie will have walked 52 miles and have hit around 800 shots.
He said: ?I wanted to set myself a challenge that was both testing and unique.?
?I have done charity runs- 10km and half marathons- in the past. Whilst they are certainly testing they have become pretty common, and with my passion for golf I wanted to think of something equally testing on the course.?
Jamie played his first round of golf in North Berwick before going on to play at George Watson?s College in Edinburgh.
He then went to university in Jacksonville, Florida, where he continued to play the sport.
The 26-year-old now works as an equipment editor for golf website Golfalot.com.
Jamie will be raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a UK charity which grants wishes to ill children.
He said he was inspired by a child who wanted to own his own golf clubs.
DVD
He said: ?The first little boy then showed on the DVD had a wish of wanting to own a set of golf clubs, and having been lucky enough myself to have played the sport from an early age and getting so much pleasure out of it, I was pretty much sold on the charity.?
?They do so much good work and if I can just do my bit to help then that will be great.?
Jamie will have to play each round within two hours to get beat the challenge under 24 hours.
Physiotherapists will be on hand throughout the day if Jamie gets injured.
According to Jamie, blisters will be his main concern.
The golf enthusiast will be playing five to six rounds per day over the next few weeks as training for the big day on June 27.
As well as the challenge, Jamie is also hosting a fundraising dinner on May 11 at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel for over 150 people.
